I am 33 years old, a single mom and I have a beautiful daughter that is 4 years old we live in Belize City. Before I started to choose this career path I wanted to be a teacher I wanted to study science more on the medical side. I didn't get the chance to go down that path because at the time I didn't have the grades for a scholarship nor the finances to apply to the University of Belize. So for some years I lost my way in life and a lady offered me a chance to start my tertiary level education but she said only if I chose education as my major. I wanted a new beginning and accepted the opportunity in a heartbeat. Then after 2 part-time semesters, I ran out of funds and I did not want to ask my mom so I had to put that on hold once again. So far I was thinking maybe I'll never get my degree I'll be like everyone that works at a grocery shop or is stuck at my mom's shop. So I was blessed with an angel investor and this time I'm giving it my all and I won't stop until I am teaching in a classroom. At first, I was a bit adamant about it but as I went along taking my courses and meeting great people I am at ease. I had my daughter about 2 semesters after I decided to do this degree full time but I had complications however after I had her my mom pushed me to continue for her sake. Now more than ever I want to help kids to get their education and be amazing leaders in our country. We as educators can make that change by being the best version of ourselves in the classroom.
