ACCIDENTS

Occurence of Accidents

Accidents happen from two cars, pedestrians, motorcyclists, bicyclists, or a combination from all. The causes range from distracted driving, drunk driving, carelessness, construction, animals, medical reasons, or natural events. In the event where all parties are involved, the extremity of an accident is dependent on the impact of the occurrence; For example, a car racing a train to prevent stopping at the railroad crossing (Usually, a situation like this would be extreme considering that it takes a train a large amount of time to stop).

The injuries from an accident can result in minor to major injuries: fatality, paralysis, broken bones, PTSD, bruising, and other physical bodily injuries. An accident is not planned, but by both parties it can be prevented through carefulness and self-control.

Fatal Car Accidents 2020

Forbes Advisor created a pie chart on Fatal Car Accidents for victims in 2020. The groups were followed as: drivers, pedestrians, passengers, motorcyclist, and others.

The group with the greatest number of fatalities were drivers--averaging at 12,512 victims. The next greatest victims are pedestrians (6,516 victims). Followed are passengers with 5,966 victims. Then motorcyclists are next with the amount of 5,579 victims. Last, but not least are others (1,244 victims).

This is important to analyze because it shows how common accidents happen, specifically in each category of driving related events.

Analyzing the occurrence of accidents helps advisors identify ways to increase prevention.
