At The Steadward Centre, we could not deliver our programs and services without the generous support of our donors and the commitment and contributions of all our excellent volunteers. Thank you.

"The relationships that I was able to build with the athletes...really fostered a positive environment...for the athletes to train but also to be silly and dance and simply just talk about the day"
"I had a really great time helping everyone in the programs work towards their goals. I would love to return next year and experience different aspects of The Steadward Centre"
"Even if I was stressed about school I knew that I would always leave the Steadward in a better mood than I came in...I loved chatting with the participants and other volunteers and it was overall just an amazing experience"
"I looked forward to coming to Steadward every week because I enjoy hanging out with the participants and the other volunteers"
I work as the Experiential Learning Liaison between TSC and the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport and Recreation. I’ve recently started in this role but have been involved with TSC for many years, dating back to 2016! My first experiences were as a volunteer with FES and Steadward Bears Para Athletics. I also worked as a teaching assistant during graduate school and supported students volunteering with the PALS program as part of their education. I got to work with over 100 students during this time, many of whom were first time volunteers and several continued to volunteer or work with TSC afterwards! Together, these experiences equipped me for my current position. I can relate to volunteers entering their (often first) role at TSC as new experiences can be intimidating! Moreover, I’m prepared to support volunteers in their successes and challenges. Over many terms, I have seen the attitudes of volunteers shift towards improved understanding of accessibility and inclusion. I’ve watched as volunteers and TSC members build rapport and trust with one another. Being a part of volunteer development and training - both in person and behind the scenes as I build new learning and training modules for volunteers - is an exciting and fulfilling experience!
