What is Star Walk Kids?
Star Walk Kids is a digital interactive map application that focuses on the basics of astronomy. Students can virtually explore constellations, stars, comets, spacecrafts and planets at their fingertips anytime of the day, anywhere. The app provides animations and brief informational videos that elaborate on the selected constellations, stars, comets, spacecrafts and planets in more detail.
When a user opens up the application the first thing that will appear is a short animated story about how the main character, the Cow, becomes an astronaut. Once the story concludes, the application will give the user two optional prompts:
1) the cinema to review short videos regarding the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Hubble, stars, Polaris, Cygnus X-1, constellations, Ursa Major and Orion.
2) the cow where he holds a roadmap that will educate the user about the sky objects. All objects, except the first one, will remain locked. You must complete the session of each object one-by one in order to unlock the following object.
Once the user completes 6 different sky objects, a 5 question quiz will appear. The user must get ≥ 4/5 questions correct to move on. If the user does not get more than 3 questions correct, the user may continue to attempt the quiz without a penalty as many times possible.
Each sky object will have 3 short informative audio narratives specific to that object, and 1 short animated video that will share interesting facts about the object.
