Sustain SU is a service of the University of Alberta Students’ Union (UASU) that provides peer-to-peer learning and support for all undergraduate students in incorporating sustainability into every aspect of their university experience. This includes providing sustainability-based services to the entire campus community (and beyond), as well as opportunities to facilitate change on a larger scale via our research, initiatives and deliverables.
The Campus Community Gardens is an initiative run by Sustain SU's staff and volunteers. It is located in East Campus Village, across from Tamarack House on the Northside of 89th Avenue and between 110th and 111th Street. The goals of the gardens are to:
Provide the campus community with food that is locally and sustainably grown. Our volunteers are invited to take a portion of our harvest!
Promote urban agriculture by teaching campus community members sustainable gardening practices.
Contribute to food security on campus by providing a portion of our harvest to the Campus Food Bank.
Foster a strong and vibrant community of neighbourhood gardeners.
