Managing Research Funds

Managing Research Funding

  • The RSO provides post-award support to researchers in managing account activity and balances, and ensures that all sponsored research funds are administered in compliance with the policies of the funding agency, U of A Policies and Procedures (UAPPOL) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Research accounts are set up and negotiated between RSO and NACTRC.
  • Once a research project has been set up, you will receive an Advice Notice indicating your project number (starting in RES), speed code, and the negotiated division of overhead.
  • After you account has been set up, researchers can access their funding and begin their research. From this point on, most of the research administration activities will involve financial and progress reporting. You can monitor your account revenue and expenditures using eTRAC accessed through your Researcher Homepage. You may also authorize a delegate to oversee your account activities, field financial inquiries on your behalf, or apply for amendments or over expenditure authorization.
