Is my research Industry Initiated or Investigator Initiated?

• All research at AHS/UofA is sponsored.
• If industry is not directing the research activity at our site, then a Principle Investigator (PI) is. But a PI is never a sponsor.
• Because it is a Canadian requirement that all research be sponsored by a governing institution, The Governors of the University of Alberta step in and signs for us.
• Just as any industry sponsored trial is open to audit by their sponsor (the industry), so is Investigator Initiated research by our sponsor (the UofA).
• If your study is selected for audit by UofA, you will work closely with our colleagues in the department of QMCR - Quality Management in Clinical Research. AT SCORE, we collaborate well with QMCR and would be pleased to accompany you in your interactions with them.
