We are looking for individuals who:
Are 18 years of age or older
Come from all backgrounds, identities, and life experiences
Can follow instructions and stay in character consistently
Are willing to engage respectfully with students and faculty
Whether you're a student, retiree, working professional, or simply someone curious about medical education, you’re invited to join us!
You will be trained to portray patients in scheduled simulation sessions. These sessions may involve:
Role-playing specific symptoms or health scenarios
Responding to student questions in a consistent, scripted manner
Participating in training or orientation sessions in advance
This is a paid, casual opportunity. SP sessions are scheduled in advance, and participation is flexible based on your availability.

Begin Your Training

The University of Alberta is a scent-free environment. During SP sessions, you’ll be working in close proximity with medical students and examiners in enclosed spaces.
To ensure a comfortable experience for everyone, we ask that you avoid wearing any scented products, including body lotion, hair products, and perfume or cologne.
If you smoke, we ask that you shower and change into clean, smoke-free clothing before your session.
