Who can be an SP?
We welcome healthy individuals between the ages of 18 and older. Individuals with serious or numerous medical problems may not suitable for SP work.
We cannot accept any pre-med or medical students.
What will SPs primarily participate in?
Role play, to support student learning through conversations around a variety of complex healthcare scenarios.
Non-invasive physical examination, for medical students to learn and practice skills.
What might disqualify you from being an SP?
You fall within an age group that is already over-represented in the program.
You have a physical condition that might make it challenging.
You've been accepted into medical school or have written the MCAT in the past year.
Your availability does not meet the needs of our program.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, neutral clothing is best. We’ll specify if medical gowns are provided for certain roles.
Where do I go when I arrive?
Arrival instructions will be emailed before your session, including parking information and where to check in.
Will I be trained for each case?
Yes! You will receive training materials and may attend a session or briefing in advance of each encounter.
How will I be contacted for work?
We will contact you via email based on your availability submissions. Make sure your email info is up to date.
Do I need to memorize scripts?
You’ll be given case scenarios with key details. While memorization isn’t required, you should be familiar and comfortable with the material to ensure consistency.
What if I need to cancel?
We understand that emergencies happen. Please contact the coordinator as soon as possible so we can adjust the schedule.
