You must pass all components (see section below) to receive a passing grade in MED 546. All marks will be released after the Medical Education Undergraduate Committee meets, which is scheduled the week after the rotation ends. All marks will be released following this meeting.
In order to successfully complete the clerkship, students need to successfully complete the following requirements:
CLINICAL
Student consistently achieving 'at expected level for end of clerkship" or "above expected level for end of clerkship" across all domains in the weekly evaluations (MDPAs) for weeks 6-8. All weekly evaluations need to be completed by a staff preceptor. Weekly evaluations should NOT be completed by a resident.
2 x EPAs per week (minimum of 16 EPAs by the end of the clerkship). At least one of the EPAs per week shuld be completed by a preceptor.
2 x EPA1a (observed history) - these will count towards the 16 EPAs required for completion of clerkship. At least one of these should be completed by a staff preceptor. The other one can be completed by either a preceptor or a resident.
2 x EPA1b (observed physical) - these will count towards the 16 EPAs required for completion of clerkship. At least one of these should be completed by a staff preceptor. The other one can be completed by either a preceptor or a resident.
1 x Allied Health EPA Narrative Form - this will count towards the 16 EPAs required for completion of clerkship.
Completion of the 9 mandatory patient encounters
Completion of call requirements - see call requirements
Although the minimum requirement is 16 completed EPAs for the clerkship, it is strongly recommended students try to obtain more than this for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it provides students with additional opportunities for feedback on their performance. Secondly, if there are any delays in a preceptor completing an EPA and the student has only requested the minimum of 16 EPAs, this will result in a delay in the final evaluation form being completed by the clerkship coordinator until the 16 EPAs are completed.
