I am Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Alberta. I also hold the Tier I Canada Research Chair in Educational Measurement.
I conduct research in the area of educational and psychological measurement. In the past, my research focused on cognitive diagnostic assessment; differential item and bundle functioning; unidimensional and multidimensional item response theory; and psychometric methods for evaluating test translation and adaptation. My current research addresses topics in assessment engineering, including cognitive modeling, automatic item generation, and automated essay scoring.
I am also a member of the Measurement, Evaluation, and Data Science (MEDS) area in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. We offer a comprehensive and challenging graduate program where students receive outstanding supervision, they complete a host of comprehensive courses, and they have many opportunities to participate in and conduct research on diverse topics in educational measurement.
LATEST BOOK ON AUTOMATIC ITEM GENERATION
In May, 2021, our second book on automatic item generation was published by Routledge. It is titled "Advanced Methods in Automatic Item Generation". This book serves as the follow-up to our 2013 edited volume on this topic titled "Automatic Item Generation: Theory and Practice. " Our 2021 book provides a summary of the research conducted in the area of automatic item generation since 2013. It also provides educational testing specialists with a practical guide on how to implement automatic item generation principles in operational testing situations.
