Child & Infant Research Participation (ChIRP)
is a group of child development researchers at the University of Alberta of which the Little Magpies Lab is a proud member. The goal of ChIRP is to find participants for our various partner labs at the university. The labs conduct research with children from infancy through to early adolescence.
Current Partner Labs
The Little Magpies Lab: That's us! Our research is focused on infants from birth to 3-years-old.
Children for Comparative Psycholinguistics (CPP): The CCP focuses their research on psychosocial and social foundations of children ages 3- to 6-years-old.
Centre for Research on Cognitive Development (CROC): The CROC Lab focuses their research on language and cognitive development in children ages 3- to 12-years-old.
Behavioural Epidemiology Lab: The Behavioural Epidemiology Lab focuses their research on physical activity and sedentary behaviour in young people from birth to 17 years old.
HeritLab: The HeritLab focuses on their research on heritage language in children.
Child Language and Literacy Lab: The Child Language and Literacy Lab researches the intervention, identification, and prevention of difficulties in early language and literacy.
ABCD Lab: The Alberta Brain and Cognitive Development Lab focuses their research on children infant to preschool aged.
EdTeKLA: The Educational Technology, Knowledge, Language, and Learning Analytics Research Group creates technology for learning support and studies how people learn.
