The Indigenous Relationality Workshop (IRW) is organized by the Prairie Relationality Network and runs in parallel with the annual meeting of the Prairie Political Science Association (PPSA).
Held at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity on Treaty Seven territory, the IRW creates a gathering place for people to reflect on, discuss, and practice Indigenous relationality across research, art, governance, and community.
Our Purpose:
To provide a supportive space for graduate students, emerging scholars, and non-academic participants.
To strengthen networks of trust and collegiality.
To encourage participants to ground their discussions in community and research contexts.
We welcome work that speaks to the theme of relationships and Indigeneity within and beyond the Prairies, including but not limited to:
Kinship relations
Gender and sexuality
Artistic practices
Land-based practices
Diplomacies and governance
Community-engaged research and leadership
Self-determination and sovereignty
Our Commitments:
Fostering good relations among participants.
Building networks of trust and care.
Supporting graduate students, community members, and emerging voices.
Honouring diverse forms of knowledge, including artistic, and land-based practices.
