We are excited to welcome you to the seventh annual Indigenous Relationality Workshop, held September 19-21, 2025, at the annual meeting of the Prairie Political Science Association (PPSA), located at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, in Banff, Alberta.
This gathering takes place in Treaty Seven territory, on the traditional lands of the Stoney Nakoda, Blackfoot, and Tsuut’ina Nations, and the Ktunaxa Nation. We honor these lands and peoples, and recognize our responsibilities as visitors and kin.
The Indigenous Relationality Workshop (IRW) is a space for scholars, students, artists, and community members to come together and explore the complexities and lived realities of Indigenous relationality. Through dialogue, storytelling, and critical engagement, we build relationships that sustain our communities and futures.
Now in its seventh year, the IRW builds on the success of past workshops, where we welcomed more than 20 presenters and many more participants into dialogue. We look forward to continuing these conversations in 2025. We are also grateful to our PPSA colleagues for their continued support.
Register for the workshop through the PPSA website. Registration includes conference fees, five on-site meals, childcare, and parking. Graduate student rates are available.
This site was created in response to participant feedback from the 2024 Indigenous Relationality Workshop, where attendees asked for more accessible information for neurodivergent and sensory-sensitive participants.
Here you will find detailed practical information on meals, buildings, schedules, and accommodations to help reduce uncertainty and support your needs. This site summarizes key resources and considerations, based on both PPSA and Banff Centre information as well as feedback from past IRW participants.
