This presentation by Adrea Mattos seeks to show how reflecting on hope may provide language teachers and teachers-to-be with a sense of new possibilities and expectations that enhance their empowerment towards the profession. Through the narratives of a group of undergraduate EFL teachers, who participated in a course on language teacher education, the presentation will illustrate how participants find hope in the profession they have chosen. The title refers to the participants' narratives (tales) and to their faint hopes for success in the teaching profession.
