Research and Policy Student
City of Edmonton
Winter 2024 (8 month term)
"During my Arts Work Experience (AWE) co-op, I had the opportunity to work for eight months at the City of Edmonton as a Research and Policy Student in Safe Mobility. My main responsibilities revolved around providing support for the Safe Mobility Strategy and carrying out in-depth research to shape and advise policies that align with the City's Vision Zero objective.
One important piece of advice I would give to new AWE students is to prioritize making connections. It's not just about learning more about the various roles within your team and outside of it, but also about personal growth. Personally, I found it enjoyable to spend time getting to know the Safe Mobility engineers and the community activators. This led to unique experiences, such as helping out with site visits and community engagement events, which pushed me out of my comfort zone and contributed significantly to my personal growth."
