Although the presidential role at FAUnA may pose various challenges, including scheduling meetings, meeting with the dean, and ensuring deadlines are met, I believe I can overcome them. This is because I have improved my time management skills by balancing various extracurriculars, executive meetings (including ACC, STIAC, and CPVMA), and academic requirements. As such, I believe I can excel in attending to FAUnA's interests at the Faculty Council and the Council of Faculty Associations, and in meeting with the dean! I would also love to meet with other FAUnA Members!
As well, throughout the year, I have been advocating for my peers in and out of lectures and holding individuals to their agreed-upon responsibilities in a professional manner, such as through an outlined agenda, weekly check-ins, and brief meetings when miscommunication occurs.
Additionally, I would love to gain more insight into student needs and wants within ALES, and as such, I would plan to push program representatives by having larger FAUnA meetings that include all members, and I would ensure greater participation through new role responsibilities, including marketing posts, and participating in polls prior to events!
I want to run for president of FAUNA because I care deeply about the ALES community and the opportunities our faculty provides to students. My time in ALES has been very meaningful to me, and I’ve had the chance to be part of a supportive community that encourages students to explore their interests and grow. I would love the opportunity to help continue creating those experiences for others.
As someone who hopes to pursue veterinary school in the future, I’m passionate about helping students learn more about animal-related careers through opportunities like guest speakers, networking events, and hands-on experiences. However, I also want to make sure FAUNA supports students from all areas of ALES, not just those within my own major, by creating events and resources that bring the whole faculty together. I’m also a strong advocate for balance while in school, and I would love to help provide resources and support that encourage well-being alongside academic success. Overall, my goal would be to help make FAUNA a welcoming and engaging space where ALES students can connect, find opportunities, and feel supported in their goals.
