Safety

As parents, there is nothing more important than your student's safety. UAH takes this very seriously. Our students are our top priority and we want to ensure their safety, and your peace of mind, whenever they are on campus.

With our secure residence halls, emergency alert system, campus police escorts, and emergency call boxes located throughout campus, you can be assured that your student is in good hands at UAH.

The UAH Police Department is a full service police department providing 24 hour patrol coverage, always protecting and enhancing the security and well-being of the campus community.

University crime statistics reports are available from the University Police Department.

RAVE GUARDIAN

All students are encouraged to download the free Rave Guardian app to build their own private safety network. The app provides instant communications with friends, family, co-workers, UAH police, and even the Madison County 911 Center in the event of an emergency.

Students can download the app from the Apple App or Google Play Store and register with their UAH email address.

To ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff, The University of Alabama in Huntsville offers the UAlert emergency notification system.

Students, faculty, and staff can opt in to receive time-sensitive emergency messages via text, voice message, and email.

UAlert allows the university to better inform the campus community of emergency situations. While participation in this system is not mandatory, enrollment is strongly encouraged. Students can set up UAlert by visiting https://www.uah.edu/ualert/registration.

RESIDENCE HALL SECURITY

All campus residence halls, excluding South East Campus Housing, offers controlled card access entry, 24-hour front desk assistants, a live-in professional staff hall director, and resident assistants on each floor.

POLICE ESCORT SERVICE

The UAH Police Department provides a 24-hour police escort service, seven days a week. Police escorts are provided upon request to those who have legitimate concerns for their personal safety when moving about campus.
