As severe weather season is upon us, we want to make sure you have all the information you need to stay safe not only during severe weather but also when lightning and flash flooding threaten. Learn about the threats associated with each weather hazard, the watches and warnings you are likely to see, how to prepare when a watch is issued, and how to stay safe when these events are occurring whether you are outdoors or indoors.

UAH Profile Sounding Team for Operational and Research Meteorology (UPSTORM): 

Within UPSTORM, students will be trained on numerous weather balloon sounding systems, have the opportunity to go into the field and launch weather balloons, get hands on experience with research vehicles, and have the opportunity to lead a team of undergraduates into the field to launch balloons. Students will be able to directly apply what has been learned in the classroom with real weather data as well as further their knowledge beyond the classroom. Being active in UPSTORM also opens doors for further research opportunities within the Atmospheric Department.
