Venue and Lodging

The Lake Guntersville State Park is located on the eastern shore of Lake Guntersville, comprising 6,000 acres of woodlands with scenic views of the Tennessee River. The Lodge is located atop a mountain overlooking the lake and the river, and it is a quiet retreat with access to walking and running trails. Late Fall and early Winter in north-eastern Alabama are generally mild, with the occasional storm possible. The Lodge has traditional hotel rooms and chalets that are within short walking distance of the main lodge, perfect for double/multiple occupancies or for families.

Lodging Rates

  • Rates are between $117-$150 per night and will be reserved directly by participants

  • Mention UAH Astrophysics Conference when making reservations (Group Code: 9546 or mention "UAH Astrophysics")

  • Types of Rooms: Traditional mountain, lake-view, and double/family occupancy chalets

  • Participants can extend their stay for the weekend at the same rate

How to Get to Guntersville, AL

  • The nearest airport is Huntsville International Airport (HSV), ~40 miles away

  • From the Airport,

    • One option is to rent a car (parking is available at the Lodge)

    • Another option is to take a taxi or a Uber ride

    • See Ride Sharing to communicate with car-pool plans with others

  • The Lodge is in a State Park with no access to public transportation

  • If there is sufficient request, we will arrange for a mini-bus shuttle (to be confirmed)
