This is a quite established discussion group. The approach is informal. We discuss issues and events of the week and we read and discuss short stories, though recently we have ventured into a short novel. The course is suitable for those with a good knowledge of German who wish to improve their skills through reading and discussion. This course will run face to face if possible but will revert to Zoom if necessary.

E19X French Conversation

French conversation for fluent speakers wishing to regain or improve their fluency. This is an informal class. We will have conversation, and read and translate passages from Antoine Laurent’s Le Chapeau de Mitterand. The aim is to improve accent, vocabulary, and ease of conversation. We will only speak French in the meetings.

The course will be for those who have some basic knowledge of the Russian language. Participants should be able to read the Cyrillic script without difficulty, have some acquaintance with Russian grammar, and with basic vocabulary. We will use audiovisual methods to develop understanding and use of the spoken language; and aim at reading and understanding simple texts.
