10/2 A notice from our book blub committee:
4th Grade Book Club:
Throughout the year, the EMES book club team will host several after-school Book Club events for 4th-6th grade students. Each book club will be based around one of the books on the Golden Dome nominee list. Students who have read the book are invited to join us for discussions, activities, and delicious snacks. At times, I will read the book to the entire class as part of our read aloud time.
Ms. Rory has several copies of each book that students can check out and I have one copy of most 4th grade level Golden Dome books that can be read at school. Books are also available as audiobooks on Sora. Please let me know if your child needs any help accessing the book in order to participate. We encourage all 4th graders to participate in this fun after-school opportunity. (Sorry 3rd graders! We are excited for you to join us next year!)
For our first book, Very Bad at Math, students will need to read the book (which is a graphic novel) on their own or have someone read it to them at home or school. This first book club will be on Thursday, October 29th from 3:45 (dismissal) to 5:00 pm. Students need to sign up with staff through our Google Sign Up Form ahead of time to participate. We will send an email to families of interested students with the sign up information closer to the book club date.
This year, the book club adults running these events are: Ms. Rory, Mrs. Ely, Ms. Bradley, and me. Please reach out if you have any questions or need support with transportation.
Sora:
Sora is an app that has a wide variety of audiobooks and online books available for all of our 3rd and 4th graders. If your child would like to access Sora for audiobooks and online books, they can find the link on the library website. Please email me for their login information if they do not remember it. If it asks for the school, we are listed as Washington Central Supervisory Union 32. Reach out to me or Ms. Rory (EMES librarian) if you need any help using this wonderful resource at home.
Our school offers after school book club to fourth graders! Students must read the Golden Dome book for the meeting. Rory will send out a sign out sheet closer to the date, and confirm pick up plans with you.
The first book club for this year will happen in late October. And the book is "Very Bad at Math." We have copies here at school for your child to borrow if they're interested in reading it.
Happy reading!
