Class Happenings 2026-2027

9/18 Another successful week! Check out our bulletin board design below. I'm a big promotor of inclusion and welcome.

Here's what we've been up to:

• Digraphs (like "ch") and trigraphs (like "tch")

• Book genres

• Subjects in sentences, proper nouns, and using "and" to connect a list of items

• Place value skills, like expanded form and "weird way" (like 19 tens and 13 ones)

• Learned new signs- breakfast, lunch, snack, look, reading, book, wrting, art, math, science, social studies, music, recess, PE, library, guidance, technology, spelling, and favorite

9/11 Another busy week! In our classroom we have the privilege of learning American Sign Language (ASL) once a week. We are learning sign supported speech, which means we aren't learning ASL grammar. Instead we are practicing our signs using English rules. Today we practiced signs for: yes, no, bathroom, wait, ready, and time. Next week we hope to sign words related to our school schedule

We also learned about September 11th. Here is the Scholastic News article. In the future we hope to have paper copies that I can send home with you.

Today we read "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" and wrote silly stories. In my story I went to Paris and then was hired as an extra in an Avengers movie.

Fourth grade math families: check Friday folders for the Iready newsletter. We have been learning about place value and representing numbers in multiple ways. Also here is a game called Pig that you can play at home. All you need are dice  and paper!

9/4 We completed our first full week of school! 

Here are some things we did:

• We learned about submitting our best work through this video

• Gwyn, the speech language patholigst, came to our class and read us a story called Roary's Talker

• In 4th grade math, we played with pattern blocks, solved math puzzles, and talked about a growth mindset

• Had some fun making silly sub plans!
