Halloween is a great time at St. Luke's Children's. I was able to participate in two different community events. In Meridian, we participated in the city's downtown Trunk or Treat event, handing out non-candy treats for little ones like vampire teeth, spider rings, and Halloween tattoos. This event was fun, and it was rewarding to be able to contribute to a town in a way that didn't requires mounds of sugar!
On Halloween night, we rolled up in our Safe Kids ambulance to Harrison Blvd. in the North End of Boise. We spent 4 hours handing out 2,400 glow bracelets to all the children trick-or-treating on the street that night. Being able to be a presence in such a time-honored tradition in Boise was truly spectacular. Keeping kids safe was our #1 priority, and by the end of the night, we were able to literally see the fruits of our labors in the glowing bracelets adorned on each child. My fingers were numb for a few days after, but it was worth it!
