Join the Quakertown Stories Project Team for the final event of our fall speaker series!
Dr. Andrea Roberts, Assistant Professor of Urban Planning at Texas A&M University, is going to speak with us about her Texas Freedom Colonies Project. It is because of her digital humanities project that we now know that Black people created over 500+ independent communities in the state of Texas.
Dr. Roberts is going to share her project’s findings. She will also discuss how Quakertown fits within the larger context of Black settlements in the state and how we can teach this history in our classrooms.
WED DEC 8 3:00 - 4:30 PM ZOOM
The second event in the Fall Speaker Series features a lecture by local activist and doctoral student Jessica Luther Rummel about their research into the history of the Ku Klux Klan in Denton County.
