Zoom Recordings (Instructors)

Our goal is to make interacting with students using Zoom in Canvas as seamless as possible. To assist instructors, we are saving all Zoom Cloud Recordings as Panopto Recordings. We wanted to provide you information on how to locate and share your recordings from Panopto Recordings in your Canvas course. 

Before Recording Your Zoom Meeting

Enable Panopto Recordings in Canvas

For Zoom Cloud Recordings to be automatically saved in your Canvas course enable Panopto Recordings in Canvas:

1. Open your Canvas course

2. Click Settings on the Course Navigation Menu

3. Click the Navigation tab

4. Find Panopto Recordings in the list (toward the bottom of the page) click the Options icon (three dots) and click the Enable button. Review How do I manage Course Navigation links?

5. Click Save

Your Zoom Recording is Saved as a Panopto Recording

Your Zoom Cloud Recording will be automatically saved to your Canvas course. Click on Panopto Recordings to access your Zoom Meeting Recordings.

If you did not enable Panopto Recordings in Canvas before recording your Zoom Meeting and need to find your Zoom Meeting Recordings, contact Canvas Support. Include the Canvas Course ID and the name and date of your Zoom Cloud Recording.

Using the New Rich Content Editor, you can create hyperlinks to Panopto Recordings. Several features in Canvas support the New Rich Content Editor, including Announcements, Assignments, Discussions, Pages, Quizzes, and Syllabus.

To copy a Panopto Recording link to the clipboard, follow these steps:

• Open your Canvas course

• Click Panopto Recordings on the Course Navigation Menu

• Navigate to the Panopto Recording and click Share [1]

• Click the Who has access Dropdown [1] and select Anyone with the link, highlight the Link [2] and right-click Copy

• Create an External Link in the Canvas Rich Content Editor. Review How do I create hyperlinks to external URLs in the New Rich Content Editor as an instructor?

NOTE: Recorded videos that students access must be closed captioned. Instructors are ultimately responsible for providing accurately captioned videos in all their courses.

Support Options

1. Contact an Instructional Designer to design learning activities for students or talk about effective ways to interact with students with Zoom in your Canvas courses.

2. Canvas Support will be available 24/7 by phone, live chat, or email through the Help menu within Canvas after you have logged in. For more information see How to Contact Canvas Support.
