Roles in Canvas are managed and updated through feeds provided by Colleague daily. The Teacher role is identified as the Instructor of Record for a course, while Students are enrolled in a course through the Registrar.
Canvas offers various course roles, including Teacher, Teaching Assistant (TA), Non-Grading TA, Peer Tutor, Designer, and Observer. All non-student roles must complete FERPA training before accessing their assigned courses. Instructors can add users to a course using their TWU Username (Login ID) in the course settings. The Instructor of Record should be familiar with the Intellectual Property Policy. Assigning the Teacher role grants the new teacher permission to access and reuse the course materials.
Resources - How do I add users to a course?
A Service Provider, either an interpreter or a Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART) writer, provides accommodations for a student in an academic course. CART is a stenotype machine, notebook computer, and real-time software that instantly translates spoken language into text, which can be displayed on a display system for students who require this service. Contact Disability Services for Students for additional information.
