How to Request a Canvas Sandbox Course

In Canvas, Sandbox courses are given to instructors by request to create new course content and to experiment with different features in Canvas. Sandboxes can be created for a specific course or for generic testing and looking at new Canvas features that are available every month.

How to Request a Canvas Sandbox Course (Instructors)

Canvas Sandboxes are available to instructors to design and develop your courses. Instructors may request a Canvas Sandbox for every course they teach. To start, select Request Canvas Support from Canvas Help (review How to Contact Canvas Support), requesting the Canvas Sandbox Course(s). One or more sandboxes may be requested at a time. Please include the course numbers, for example ENG 1013, NURS 4612.

You will receive an email message when your Canvas Sandbox course is available. To access the Sandbox course:

Click the Courses icon in Global Navigation
Click on All Courses
Add the Sandbox course to your list of favorite courses by clicking the Star icon to the left of the course name.
Click the Dashboard icon in Global Navigation.

Contact an Instructional Designer to create learning activities for students, training to use Canvas features, or talk about effective ways to design your Canvas courses.
Canvas Support will be available 24/7 by phone, live chat, or email through the Help menu within Canvas after you have logged in. For more information see How to Contact Canvas Support.
