As someone who teaches, I have come to truly value collaboration—both with fellow teachers and with our students—when trying to create a meaningful and productive learning atmosphere. Collaborating with local co-teachers, specialists, and parents has improved my awareness of students' individual needs and has enabled me to facilitate their access to learning.
Working together allows us to combine different perspectives, skills, and ideas, which enrich lesson planning but also model cooperative work and respect for students. Facing these 'mad challenges' together, I try to generate a space in the classroom where students feel safe, included, supported, and ready to ask questions, develop ideas, and learn from one another. I find that small groups, peer support, and collaboration with tasks lead to developing students' confidence and motivation.
Supporting children with their learning is about more than teaching facts; it involves providing each child with an opportunity to be present, realise their strengths, manage and work through challenges, and celebrate their growth, even in the small things. If we collaborate and work together, we can ensure that no child gets lost in the system and that every learner feels that they are seen, heard, and deserving of success.
