Dragon Boat Festival Fun!
We learned Dragon Boat Festival vocabulary, made paper rice dumplings, and danced to "Row, Row, Row Your Boat!"
I introduced my class to the iconic jeepney, a colorful and beloved mode of public transportation in the Philippines. We learned about its cultural significance, unique design, and how it reflects Filipino creativity and community spirit. To make the experience even more fun and immersive, we joined a TikTok trend and acted out what it’s like to ride a jeepney — complete with music, hand signals, and plenty of laughter!
"Happy Mother's Day, Mom!"
Students celebrate Mothers' Day by making a special card and paper flowers. We introduced vocabulary like Mother, Mom, loving, kind, and beautiful to describe their moms. It’s a sweet and creative activity that shows their love and appreciation.
A Celebration of Easter Day!
Students engaged in a fun-filled Easter celebration with activities like "Egg Hunt" and "Egg Quest". Before the games, they got creative by painting their own eggs and making their own chicks. We also introduced Easter-themed vocabulary like lamb, egg, chick, rabbit, and carrot. To add even more fun, winners received special prizes!
"It is a [toy]. I like it."
Students share their favorite toys by simply saying, 'It is a [toy]. I like it.' A simple yet effective way to practice sentence structure and build confidence in speaking!
A healthy person eats healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables.
The students learned vocabulary related to fruits and vegetables, emphasizing healthy and unhealthy foods. To make it more engaging, they played the game "Guess What?". In each round, two students take part. Pictures are placed on their backs, and they must ensure their opponent cannot see them. To score a point, the student must correctly guess the picture.
The Christmas season is the period leading up to Christmas Day, December 25th. It is a time for celebrating with family, giving gifts, and enjoying festive traditions.
The students learn English by listening to and following the game instructions, while enjoying fun activities and experiencing the Christmas season through giving and receiving presents.
A Christmas tree is an evergreen tree decorated with lights, ornaments, and often topped with a star or angel. It is a central symbol of the Christmas holiday, representing the joy and spirit of the season.
The students learned the vocabulary term "Christmas Tree" and participated in a hands-on activity where they assembled and decorated a tree. This allowed them to connect the word to a tangible experience. To further enrich the activity, they sang along to "I'm the Happiest Christmas Tree" by Nat King Cole, adding a fun and musical element to their learning experience.
Thanksgiving is a national holiday observed mainly in the United States and Canada. It is a time to gather with family and friends to express gratitude for the blessings of the past year, particularly for the harvest. People typically enjoy a large meal, often including turkey.
The students learned the vocabulary words "Thanksgiving" and "turkey." To reinforce their learning, they participated in an activity where they made paper turkeys and sang a song related to Thanksgiving, helping them connect the words to both creativity and music.
