Hello Students & Parents!

I am excited to start this new year with you! This marks my 17th year teaching, and my 16th year at Kawameeh Middle School! Though our journey will once again look different than ever before, I'm glad we're on it together! <3

Education

I grew up in Roselle Park and graduated in 2003! Ever since I was in the 8th grade, I've worked at Roselle Park Summer Camp, and even know many of you from camp!! When I first became a teacher, I worked at RPHS teaching 11th and 12th grade English and I was also the yearbook editor (which was really fun!)

I received my undergraduate degree from Caldwell College (now Caldwell University) in 2007. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Education, English, and a minor in Communications. In 2009, I returned to Caldwell to teach college classes in Global Literature and Modern Drama!

While working as a Graduate Assistant in 2009, I completed my first master's degree in Liberal Studies (English/History) with a concentration and certificate in Holocaust and Genocide studies. I went on to do a second master's degree immediately after, and in 2012, earned my M.A. in Education Administration.

I joined the Kawameeh Middle School tribe in 2010! I've taught both 7th and 8th grade ELA at KMS, I am the advisor for the school newspaper (Smoke Signals), I coach the cheer squad (GO CHIEFS), I advise the Baton Twirling Club, the Student Council, and I'm also the PTA liaison (so I've met many of your parents and guardians already!)

Favorite Books

I have a deep passion for literature and love to read! My favorite genres include dystopian, fantasy, and historical fiction. I love these genres for their ability to help the reader imagine what the future may hold and for the creative ways they allow authors to make social commentary. Though those are my favorite genres, I enjoy books of all kinds! If you scroll through the pictures, you can see some of my all-time favorites!

I also participate in the annual KMS Battle of the Books and I am a member of the best team in the game, BEASTS! Being a part of Battle gives me an opportunity to not only read new books, but also compete against others who love books too!

Family

I have two little/crazy sons, Camden and Cavan, and two spoiled-rotten dogs, Rocky and Rambo! With this house full of boys, I am always on my toes. We love to go to the park and are obsessed with finding the best playgrounds across NJ! Check out @nj_parksharks on Instagram, and you'll see what I mean :)

Usually, we all make an appearance at school events like Family Fitness Night and the annual school musical! Sometimes, my kids even come to school for Halloween or Bring Your Child to Work Day!!
