Whether we are learning from home or back in a somewhat traditional setting, this year will be a new and challenging experience for us all! As we work through our new schedule, it's important to understand that each of us is on our own path (and working at our own pace). With that being said, if you find that during any class session (whether in-person/hybrid/virtual) you finish your work early and have "down time", I would like you to visit this page and take this opportunity to expand your mindfulness, self-awareness and self-management. Focusing on your social and emotional learning can play a huge role in developing who you are as a person.
• Before beginning any activity, take a few deep breaths.
• Settle into a quiet mental space for reflection.
• You are encouraged to use this time for SEL, but not required.
Watch this YouTube video Teen Voices: Dealing with Digital Drama
Write down three posts that you have made on social media that may have created digital drama. Re-write those three posts in a way that shows good digital citizenship.
Visit the website FutureMe.org and write a letter to yourself !
In this activity, you will write a letter to your future self, detailing whatever you wish. This can be details of your life now, a poem, or your future goals, etc. When you receive the letter back again, you will be able to compare and reflect on the differences within yourself after a year’s worth of change.
FutureMe.org allows users to delay the electronic letter for one, three, or five years, or to choose a specific date of delivery.
Watch the TedEd video on YouTube titled 3 Tips to Boost Your Confidence
• List 3 people in the world that you believe are confident.
• What three actions can you take to build your confidence?
• Name a failure that you had but were able to overcome and list how you overcame it.

Smiling Mind is a unique tool developed by psychologists and educators to help bring balance to your life.
Visit the ThriveInside page which is a special initiative to help you stay calm and healthy in the physical constraints of your home, while remaining calm and healthy inside your mind.
Additionally, in an effort to give you time to read what you want to read, share what you've read, and receive the support you need for further reading explorations and reflections, I have provided a D.E.A.R. Form (Drop Everything and Read) that you can access below. You should have a novel of your choice with you in class (or next to you at home) everyday day. If ever you finish an assignment early, you can access this form and submit it based on what you are currently reading! There will also be certain times during our class sessions which I will designate as DEAR time (giving you an opportunity to continue the reading of your choice and not look at the computer screen).
