Aztec is a nation filled with many tribes called the Culhuacan, Cuitlahuaque, Mixquica, Xochimilca, Chalca, Tepaneca, Acolhuaque, and Mexica. These tribes have different cultures and traditions. The stereotypical Aztecs are the Mexica. The Aztec spoke Naztoht,l and"Nitse" is how you say hello.

The Aztec believed in a polytheistic tradition with multiple gods/goddesses. Sacrifice is a main theme in the religion. In some myths, the gods sacrifice themselves by jumping into the fire to create the sun and moon. The Aztecs also believed the body was sacred and to have Tonali and Toalia. Tonali was a force in your head that was responsible for your strength and health. While Tonalia was in the heart. Human sacrifice was seen as humans themselves recycling and giving Tonalia/Tonali back to the world.  Alternatively,  according to the YouTube video Aztec religion explained. The Aztec sacrifices could have been political and not religious, inflicting fear in citizens so they won't rebel and to punish dissidents.

As for the economy, cacao beans were important because they were the currency. Cacao was also a very ceremonial drink. It was drunk by priests, warriors, and kings. The Aztecs had a complex economy that had markets attracting 60,000 people every day. They traded food, animals, knives, tools, medicine, wood, furs, precious metals, and gems.

The Aztecs were nice to the conquistadors when they arrived. They gave them gifts. But the conquistadors soon started a war with the Aztec to colonize them. The Aztec were very disadvantaged because of their technology. They had spears and swords against the Spanish guns. With new settlers also came disease and it spread like wildfire. This weakened the aztecs. Many tribes hated being part of the Aztec and would team up with the conquistadors to fight against them.
