I am a trauma informed therapist specialising in Evidence Based EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). I offer nurturing, wholistic counselling and practice deep active listening from a place of non-judgement. We are all on our journey of life.
I have experience working with teens, people with complex mental health issues, and many years working with women. I can help you to manage and reduce stress, anxiety, depression, chronic physical pain, emotional pain, overwhelm, insomnia, burn out, "stuck-ness" and trauma. Even symptoms of chronic health conditions can be reduced by addressing the emotional component. I am open to working with whatever you present with. Contact me for a clarity call on how I could help you.
My qualification as a *Transpersonal Counsellor brings richness and depth to counselling. We find answers from going within. Counselling sessions can be regular counselling around a problem or issue, or could be developmentally focused with a self-realisation orientation. The nature of transpersonal work can be highly transformative. The transpersonal is also very much about healing and restoring balance. (see below for more information on transpersonal psychology)
In my practise I utilise contempory evidence based mindfulness practices such as Felt Sense (Eugene Gendlin's Focusing) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have a huge love of mindfulness and have also learned ancient mindfulness practices from Taoist masters and various Buddhist teachers (Thich Nat Hahn💕).
My life has been heavily influenced by the late psychologist Marshall Rosenberg's Compassionate Communication /Non Violent Communication work around heart connected language and communication. It gives a structured way to change the habitual way we think and speak, and helps us relate to others and ourselves in a more connected way. This compassionate communication also took me on a deep dive into understanding myself.
After many years of meditation I know the HUGE value mindfulness can bring to our lives. Part of my counselling approach is to explore the way our mind works, to cultivate the observing self which helps to create awareness and deactivate the intensity of distressing thoughts. This approach has been highly effective with adolescents and of course with clients from all ages and backgrounds.
*The Transpersonal is a branch of psychology that offers a broader view of what it means to be human. Transpersonal means beyond the persona/mask and focuses on uncovering that which we are not aware of such as shadow content and underlying issues. Transpersonal work offers the capacity to go deeper to uncover things about you that could be of benefit. We may access wisdom from the body or from states of consciousness other than the waking state eg. getting guidance through a meditative process or exploring the meaning of a dream.
Transpersonal work expands our awareness using various tools such as dream work, symbols, archetypes, altered states of consciousness, mindfulness, mythology, art and shadow work. Transpersonal work is holistic in that it looks at the whole person including their spirituality. It assists a person to move toward the full potential of who they can be.
I conduct counselling online or in person (Brisbane, Northside)
