Line- Students explored the element of line by glueing noodles to a paper and painting them.
Shape- Students explored the element of shape by gluing shapes together to make their own picture, adding crayon details.
Silly Pumpkins- In this project students continued to work with the element of shape. Painting and glueing shapes together to make silly pumpkins.
Fall Tree- Students traced their hand and tore organic shaped leaves to create fall trees.
Pigeon Painting- Artists drew a pigeon at a party using shapes. This project was based on the book "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" by-Mo Willems.
Penguins- Artists drew and painted fun winter penguins.
Texture Snowmen-In this project students explored the element of texture, gluing different textures together to decorate their snowmen.
Polar Express-In this project kindergarten artist learned to use oil pastels. Using shapes each child drew a train. Next they colored the train using oil pastels. Finally students had a great deal of fun finger painting the snow.
Mouse in a Mitten- Students painted a very colorful mitten that could never be lost in the snow and added a mouse. This project was based on the book, "The Mitten" by Jan Brett.
Bugs- In this project students learned about the primary colors and mixing the secondary colors. We played with mixing these colors making dots. Later the dots were turned into bugs in a jar.
Rizzi Birds- Learning about the artist James Rizzi artists created watercolor birds in his style.
Kandinsky Music- Students painted abstract shape pictures in the style of Wassily Kandinsky who painted the music he heard. Students outlined shapes in black and then used only the primary colors to paint in the shapes mixing the secondary colors.
Uphues Hearts- Students drew hearts with silly faces in the style of Chris Uphues. In this projects we explored using markers and water together.
Jungle- As one of our remote learning projects students created a jungle collage based on the work of Henri Rousseau. Check out our remote learning showcase here.
