Scroll down to see each class' slide show.

Shoe Fish- Students traced their shoes to create the body shape of the fish. Next they explored the element of line to design the fish and a background!
Wild Things- Students explored the element of shape, tracing stencils and cutting out shapes to create their own Wild Thing creature. Based on the book "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak.
2D & 3D Fall Trees- Students explored the difference between 2D and 3D art. They created a fall tree sculpture and a fall tree drawing where they finger painted the leaves.
Arlo- This project explored the element of texture and was based on the book "Arlo Needs Glasses" by Barney Saltzberg. Students drew their own Arlo dog adding 2D textures. Next they created a special pair of glasses for Arlo, using 3D textures.
Reindeer and Snowmen- In these two projects students practiced drawing recognizable objects using simple basic shapes. They also learned and practiced different watercolor techniques.
Symbol Silhouettes- Students learned about the use of symbols in art and filled a silhouette of themselves with symbols of things they are thankful for.
Mixed Media Owls- In this project students explored the difference between realistic and abstract. They also practiced using different mediums and connecting science to art in this mixed media project.
Whingdingdillys- This was a creative drawing project where students created their own Whingdingdilly (a combination animal), based on the book "The Whingdingdilly" by Bill Peet.
Laurel Burch Cats- This was the project students were working on when we switched to remote learning, so not all of them are complete. In this project students drew and colored their own abstract cat based on the art of Laurel Burch.
A few of the other artists we learned about during remote learning were Henri Rousseau, Wayne Thiebaud, Robert Wyland and Charley Harper- Check out our remote learning show case here.
