Credit Flex

Credit Flexibility is in opportunity for students to create unique learning experiences. Credit Flexibility options are designed for those students who demonstrate the ability, interest, and maturity to accept personal responsibility for their learning in a selected curricular area and have the opportunity to pursue it outside of Tuslaw High School with a Tuslaw Board of Education-approved program. The purpose of the Credit Flexibility option is to develop learners who plan their own research, learning objectives, and plan whereby they will attain those objectives outside of the traditional classroom.

The Credit Flexibility options are:

  • Testing out of an Existing Tuslaw High School Class

  • Creating a Flex Plan for a New Class - Consists of a student developing his/her own Proposal for Credit Flexibility and demonstration of proficiency.

  • Selecting a Tuslaw Local Schools Approved Educational Option (Ex: on-line coursework, independent study, summer school, mentorship programs, etc.)

Credit Flexibility Application submission due dates are:

  • August 1st (or earlier) for courses taken during the Fall Semester

  • December 1st (or earlier) for courses taken during the Spring Semester

  • May 1st (or earlier) for courses taken during the summer

  • Students wishing to earn credit by testing out must submit by the last day of March of the preceding school year

All students should schedule courses, as usual, until notification of approval or denial of their Credit Flexibility form has been received.
