At Turning Point School, we call our After School and Summer Programs the Out-of-School Experience:
A series of sessions that expand during the summer to fill full days, and contract during the regular school year to fill after-school hours.
Our STEAM+ philosophy combines the STEAM and Movement Education models with play-based learning. The evidence for the efficacy of play-based learning is conclusive. Our code word for developmentally appropriate play-based learning is “fun.”
Students who remain on campus after school can expect to be provided with a delicious and nutritious after-school snack, also known as FUEL (Food Upgrades Energy Levels). FUEL is included in the cost of after-school activities.
After Care
After Care
Care for students from the end of the dismissal window until pick-up. It’s the simplest session we offer, but possibly the most fun. (Shhh, don’t tell anyone!)
Foundations + Focus
Foundations + Focus
Foundations Classes provide an introduction to a subject for students to explore while Focus Lessons allow more in-depth study. It’s a little more involved than After Care and just as much fun. (Tell your friends!)
Foundations Classes are for groups of six or more students with registration available three times per year. As long as the class meets its minimum enrollment requirement, it will run for that session.
Focus Lessons can be either private (one student) or semi-private (two to five students) with year-round registration. Once a student registers for Focus Lessons, they will continue weekly (or more frequently) the entire school year. As with Foundations Classes, the availability of semi-private Focus Lessons depends on minimum enrollment requirements being met.
Summer FUNdamentals
Summer FUNdamentals
During the summer months, an expanded version of Foundations + Focus combined with After Care to fill full days. It’s truly the most tremendous fun in the sun. (Tell everyone!)
