Digital Citizenship

What is Digital Citizenship?

"Digital citizenship can be defined as the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to technology use." - Mike Ribble

How are students learning to interact online? Are parents teaching them? Are they mimicking what they see from peers? Are they repeating what they see on television? Or are they learning on their own in the digital wasteland?

With districts increasing technology use in the classroom (and at home), we need to spend time on digital citizenship.

This is not something that should be left to schools to teach. Showing positive interactions online; discussing negative interactions; helping students create a positive online presence that can (and definitely will) be used in their future, is something that should start at home!

Help show your children how to be a good person online and offline. Be a good role model.
