Why Are Gas Prices So High?

Some reports have shown that gas prices in California have gone up $2.31 in the last year. Now consumers are paying $4.71 for one gallon of gas. But why? Many people believe that the increasing gas prices are caused by coronavirus; others believe that it is caused by high crude oil prices.
When holidays come around, a lot of families like to travel and visit others, which creates a major drought in some peoples wallets. Some say a “cry” for help. While traveling and constantly paying for gas, people are worried they won't have enough money for family gifts.
With everything else in California being expensive, such as Rent, Groceries, and Utilities, the cost of gas should be the least of our worries. We are known for having the highest gas prices in the nation. President Biden asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate whether oil and gas companies were engaging in “illegal conduct” that was driving up prices. The Federal Government has limited opportunities to directly affect the price of gasoline for customers.
