The California Wildfires

A wildfire is an uncontrollable fire that burns the wildland vegetation, often in rural areas. They can burn in forests, grasslands, savannas, and other ecosystems. Wildfires happen anywhere in the world. Very recently a wildfire has occurred in the beginning of our new year of 2025. From January 7th to January 31st, a series of 17 destructive wildfires in the Los Angeles metropolitan area in the U.S. in the State of California.
This big wildfire has burned so many homes and has destroyed many family memories. Not only homes but businesses leading to financial loss and having to build your home or workplace from scratch. This really hurts me to see people stuck in this situation and the fact this has taken people's lives, and families. This is truly so devastating for me to hear and just imagining what the people in this situation or have gone through a situation like this must feel. People that also have escaped safely now may go through health problems from the smoke of the fire.
So far this wildfire has burned through 23,400 acres including homes and businesses. At least 29 people have passed away in the fires according to nbc.news.com. The county medical examiner's office is still investigating many of their deaths. It can take weeks to confirm people's identities to those who have been killed. There has also been a warning that the death toll could grow.
According to CNN, the fires were exacerbated by drought conditions, low humanity, a build up of vegetation from the previous winter. The severe drought made this fire worse along with the ongoing wind spreading the fires. Person to person, home to home, business to business, this fire has gotten out of hand. Even if you are not in the fire or have no experience in this there should still be love going out to the families, homes, businesses, and memories put into all those places. Things are being lost every second.
I have also noticed people only show interest in the small things, such as this guy losing his dog. Yes, that's a part of him and it's sad but what about the homes? There have been 16,000 homes and other structures damaged or destroyed by two fires in the Los Angeles area, according to calmatters.org. The wildfire-urban interface in California has grown over the last 30 years. Since 2018 California fire, the state's fire agency, has inspected all of the buildings within 100 meters of a perimeter and assessed the level of damage.
At the end of the day we should all show support to everyone and everything that has been destroyed. The very few memorable things that have been destroyed are the things we don't think about. This has hurt so many people physically and mentally. As we continue to face these challenges, it is devastating that good people go through things like this. Make everyday a good day and stay positive. We all don't appreciate what we have, especially what others may not have. We should all work together and help each other in any way possible, such as prey for things to get better.Â
