The Power of Music

Whether you like it or not, music has had a big part in today's life. Today's society has been greatly shaped by a lot of things but music has had a big part in that process. I’m not talking about just one one genre of music, I'm talking about the whole category of music.
Music over the years has influenced generation after generation into doing numerous things. These things have been big things in history. We all know women's rights and women standing up for themselves was not a big thing or even accepted back in the old days, but with music, it allowed women to stand up for their rights, make them stronger mentally and physically, and even make their opinions and voices heard. It has allowed races and cultures to stand up. It has influenced a big part of the world on how we live and act to this day.
From people putting radios and stereos in their cars, to businesses like stores and grocery markets putting speakers in the ceiling and playing music for their customers or clientele to listen to as they do whatever it is they came to that place for, music is everywhere.
Bono once said: “[m]usic can change the world because it can change people”. It can change people and help them with their everyday lives. Remember the first time you went to a show and saw your favorite band? You wore their shirt, and sang every word. You didn't know anything about scene politics, haircuts, or what was cool. All you knew was that this music made you feel different from anyone you shared a locker with. Someone finally understood you. Ray Charles once said: “This is what music is about.” Music can send messages and stir around your emotions, making you feel a different way after listening to the song.
All it takes is one artist, one band, one song to change your opinion or send you a lesson or give advice on anything. It has changed the personal language that we have, adding lots of abbreviated and slang words. Everyday you see everyone wearing different things and that’s because these songs have had an influence on our fashion and how we dress. It gives you confidence and tells you to dress like this or that, and it’s made our young and older generations follow and live like that.
Although it has had a good influence, it has also had a bad influence. A lot of songs have played a part in people's dangerous and crime-filled lives. These songs promote breaking the law, doing and promoting crime, and making gangs and narcotics a good topic. It is sad and horrible that things like these are spread and made into positive things, but all we can do is hope that they change and try to avoid these things.
Music is such a beautiful thing that has been spread worldwide to everybody. Over the years, many cultures and religions have spread their teachings and messages through music. They sing songs that have to do with their religion or culture, and that lets them help spread their word with others.
Music does all things and helps a lot, but it doesn’t just change and help everyone together. Music can just be a thing that helps you personally. Many people use music to help cope with their personal issues such as depression, social anxiety, anxiety, worrying, etc. It helps calm their nerves and themselves down. Many people also use music as an escape from the world. Some people just need alone time and music helps them out.
There are so many things music has done in this world. From personal help, to spreading messages, it is an important part of this world and what we have today. If music wasn’t a big thing or important, they wouldn’t put it in our surroundings everywhere we go. Look at all the ways music has had an impact on this world that we live in. Look at how much it’s accomplished. There’s no doubt that this world would be drastically different without the help and sounds of music. Music will always be here forever, it is something that simply just can not end. It will be here till the end, whether you like it or not.
