Girls vs. The Dress Code

An important interest and issue for students in 2022 is the dress code. The issue of a “dress code” includes the discrimination of girls and what they wear.They arent able to expresses themselves. Their interest is in wanting more freedom of expression.

The reason we have this issue is because the school board sees our clothing as “distracting” or “inappropriate” and also “offensive to religion.” However, none of these things apply to guys, especially teenage boys who could be shirtless or have sleeveless shirts showing their shoulders. They are never really told what to wear and how their clothes are inappropriate or how distracting their shoulders can be. This can also be an issue because it changes the way they portray the ideas of self expression, not just with women but men too.

A lot of people disagree with the idea of girls wanting more freedom when it comes to being able to express themselves in what they feel like wearing. The reason why people think that the majority of the time is because they find it disrespectful to their own religion. A lot of older people find it disrespectful to dress the way we want because back when they attended school, schools were more strict about what could be worn. They think it's unfair that students now have more freedom.

As time moves on a lot of young girls from different schools and around the country have started to protest about dress codes. More girls are being open and fighting for what they think is right. Many have been able to win and either get rid of the dress codes or make it easier for girls to express themselves using what they want to wear. A lot of people also fight for boys wanting to be able to wear hoodies and hats and have also won. To this day there are still strict dress codes, but most students have opened up about how they feel and have been heard and have gotten the issue fixed.
