Jon Jones is a professional mixed martial artist that is arguably the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world with a record of 26-1-0. His only loss is a disqualification because he threw illegal elbows during a fight where he was dominating. Jones is set to return on 3/4/23 to fight Ciryl Gane for the Title of UFC HeavyWeight Champion of the World. Many people doubt he is going to win because they hate him for his past controversies which were dumb mistakes, but at the end of the day you can’t take away what he has achieved in this sport. The fighter has shown to be growing more mature during his time off from the UFC. During the press conference on 03/02/23 he seemed very calm, focused, and collected. He didn’t talk trash, instead he talked about how he will counter Ciryl Gane in a respectful classy way rather than showboating and just talking tough. His match up is with Heavyweight Champ Ciryl Gane who is an athletic and fast Heavyweight Kickboxer in the UFC. This is a perfect match up for Jon Jones. Jon Jones is a more well-rounded kind of fighter due to his wrestling and submission abilities, as well as his ability to create distance and slowly wear down the fighters to eventually lead to KO or submission.
As the both fighters entered the arena to their walkout songs the crowd went crazy with excitement to see the GOAT in the ring again. The fight was seconds away from beginning, both fighters were being introduced and hyped up by announcer Bruce Buffer. Then, the fight began. It started off with both fighters starting off slow, just throwing basic feints, jabs, and leg kicks to feel eachother out. Jon Jones didn’t waste any time, he knew Ciryl Gane's ground game was not up to par with his so he slipped Ciryl's punch and got ahold of him and took him down. Eventually Jones got a "guillotine choke" right under the neck and he was squeezing and putting all his weight on the choke and that's when Gane tapped out during Round 1 at 2 min and 4 seconds leaving everybody in shock at how fast he finished the fighter. At the end of the day, statistics don't lie. Jon Jones was the youngest fighter to become the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and has the most title defenses with 13 defenses. While defending he fought many great fighters like Alexander Gustafsson, Lyoto Machida, Chael Sonnen, Glover Teixeira. His rival and UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier, who now is a commentator, said that “you can hate him but you can’t discredit the achievements he has accomplished in his career.”
Jon “Bones” Jones is now getting ready for the fight of his life. He challenged the best Heavyweight of all time, Stipe Miocic, saying: “lets’ give the fans what they want to see, Stipe Miocic, I hope your training my guy, you’re the greatest heavyweight of all time and that's what I want, I want you real bad.” For Jones to come back after 3 years out of the UFC and become champion in a weight class he is totally new to he made it look easy.
