A complete script-free show that’s actually funny? Impractical Jokers stars Brian Quinn, James Murray, Sal Vulcano, and Joe Gatto. This hidden camera series follows four lifelong friends who take dares to the next level. The best part about it, the jokers do not know the details of the prank until the moment they are performing it on complete strangers.
An episode of this show features a challenge all of them must do, whether they fail or not is completely up to them. The individual is given the choice to embarrass themselves saying what the others tell them to through an earpiece. If they don’t come through with it, they are given a thumbs down. At the end of the challenges, whoever has the most thumbs down is the loser and has to do what the others say and cannot refuse anything at all.
Joe Gatto, one of the main stars has been with Impractical Jokers since seasons 1-9, unfortunately he left due to personal reasons. Now that he’s gone they started having guest hosts. Ever since then, ratings have gone down but it gives no reason to stop watching since you still see the other three main stars. The four friends who started this show have known each other for over 30 years. They’ve turned their friendship into a very successful comedy show. The best thing about them is they each are very different and all carry their own sense of humor that collides with one another. The remaining jokers knew they wouldn’t be able to replace a fan favorite so they decided to bring in the guest hosts which are in fact celebrities. The only thing with this is most of the celebrities aren’t ones that younger watchers particularly would know but more for the older audience. This is because everybody that comes to their set is someone that they’re already friends with, have met in some form, or just in general someone they all agree on and would be fun to work with.
Murray once said, “I think going back to the early seasons, it was so different, right? I think the older we get, the longer the show runs, the more episodes we make, we have a greater appreciation for the legacy and the impact of the show on several generations of people: parents, grandparents, kids..” and follows up with, “Those kids are now parents themselves, they’re married, out of school. And there’s not many shows that have gone that long. And I don’t know… we don't want to take it for granted: it makes us that much more invested in the show and still keeping it great, as great as it has always been.” This makes the show one of the best there will ever be in the comedy genre, to have a show going on this long and still giving laughs every episode is rare.
Impractical Jokers will forever be an amazing show to watch and crack up to. Take your time to watch some clips and you’ll be guaranteed to enjoy it.
