Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania came out in theaters last weekend. This movie is a continuation to the ongoing storyline that all Marvel movies share. Marvel movies are all connected and they are released in what they call "phases." Quantumania is the beginning of phase 5. This movie is the start of phase 5 because it introduces the next main Marvel villain that will appear during the next phase of movies. It also introduces the knowledge of an entire multiverse that the Marvel heroes will need to make sure is safe. Future movies are going to have to deal with some of the events that were started in this movie. During this movie the main character's daughter invents a machine that accidentally pulls them into the quantum realm. After the characters get pulled down into the quantum realm they spend most of the movie trying to survive and get back home. While they are stuck in this new world they learn about new characters and the existence of a new threat that if let loose could cause problems throughout the entire multiverse. They also learned that this is just one of many alternate multiverses that exist.
While in the quantum realm they learn the past of the new villain and how he came to be stuck in the quantum rum as well. He was exiled by his fellow members of the Kang council and the quantum realm was used as a prison for him. He lies to one of the main characters to get her help to rebuild his machine to get him out of the quantum realm and travel through time. While Kang has been down in the quantum realm he has taken over and become king, taking over from the true people who lived in the realm and stealing their power. While they are stuck in the quantum realm they help the people who live there get their home back. They made friends with the people who live there which could come in handy later. They also learn that this new villain has built an entire army that is ready to invade their version of Earth. After they learn of his plans they attempt to stop him from leaving the quantum realm. A huge battle occurs at the end of the movie where everybody fights for their own freedom in the quantum realm. They defeat Kang and they're able to return home and leave the people of the quantum realm back in charge of their world.
After they return home and things settle down the main character starts to think if the villain is truly gone. They didn't really understand the technology he uses so he may not be gone for good. During the after credits scene they show that this villain was one of many different variants of himself. Enough to fill up an entire coliseum which is called the council of Kangs. These will be the main threat for the movies going forward.
