Concert Attire for Students
Your student will need to wear concert black to all concerts.
Solid black dress shirt that covers shoulders
Black dress pants or mid-length skirt (below the knee at minimum)
Black dress belt, if needed
Black dress, closed-toe shoes. If Vans or other casual shoes, must have black soles. Flats or low heel acceptable
Black socks that go above the ankle
Concert Etiquette for Audience
Please do not talk while a performing group is playing/singing
This is the first and greatest rule of concert etiquette
This includes whispering to, or disciplining your other children
Please turn off electronic devices
While most phones now have very musical ring tones, they don't always fit into our performance, nor do they provide pleasant sounds for your neighbors
Please do not wave to your student during the concert
This can be a distraction to the students, when they should be focused on their performance for you
Please do not take flash photography or move about with your video camera
Photographing and/or filming can also be a distraction to the students, when they should be focused on their performance
Please applaud at appropriate times
Some music has several sections
Remember, it's not over until all of the sections have been performed
A good rule of thumb is to watch the conductor, when his/her arms are lowered completely, it's usually the end of the composition
Please do not enter or leave the auditorium during the music
Wait for a break in the concert to visit the restroom, unless you are caring for an upset/noisy child, in which case you may exit as quickly and quietly as possible
If arriving late, please stand near the back or sides of the auditorium until a break in the concert, before finding your seat as to not interrupt other concert goers in the audience.
Please come to the concerts expecting the best
You might just be surprised how good your student sounds when joined by the other students
We are greater than the sum of our parts!
The Arizona Seal of Arts Proficiency was signed into law by Governor Doug Ducey on May 14th, 2019. The goals of the Arizona State Seal of Arts Proficiency are:
To celebrate students who demonstrate high levels of proficiency in the Arizona Arts Education Standards through personal expression and creative experiences in the arts education programs
To identify pathways of artistic literacy that cultivate skills for 21st-century success
To prepare students for college and career readiness, including active participation in the creative industries sector
To promote increased access to well-rounded, high-quality arts education across the state
To earn the Arts Seal of Proficiency for their diploma, students must complete a rigorous, standards-based, and high-quality arts education course of studies such as Music, Dance, Media Arts, Theatre and Visual Arts. They must also participate in arts extracurricular activities and complete a Senior Arts Capstone Project. Students will work with an Arts Advisor (Teacher) in their discipline of arts study.
