Comprehension is the ability to understand what is being read. Many students are able to decode, or read, the words yet when they get to the end of the book they are not able to recall important facts, details, or parts of the story. Parents can help develop comprehension by asking questions before, while, and after reading. Furthermore, the links below help children develop important skills to better understand text.
