Ihipera Whakataka

This is a journey into Tikanga-a-Iwi.

Here at Tūranga Tangata Rite we are on a journey of discovery. An unpacking and deepening understanding of Tikanga-A-Iwi through an emphasis on the teaching and learning of traditions and customs of nga iwi o Tūranga: Rongowhakaata, Ngai Tamanuhiri and Te Aitanga a Mahaki.

We set high expectation of academic achievement, together with experiences that grow the confidence and knowledge of our tauira with the aim of helping them to become leaders in their own cultural settings and the wider community.

As the Tumuaki  I am privileged to work alongside the Board, staff and tauira to nurture the Special Character of our kura and further develop the critical pedagogy and culturally sustaining practice our kura is striving for. I am looking forward to leading Tūranga Tangata Rite into the future and I am extremely excited about the challenges, successes and insights our establishment years will bring!

Nga mihi

Teresa Scott
