About Program/Degree
University Partnerships
TSTC has several articulation agreements with Partner Universities that facilitate the transfer process and ensure that students seamlessly advance to institutions of higher learning.
Our Lady of Lake University (OLLU) CYS graduates may be able to transfer credit hours towards a Bachelors of Science in Computer Information Security Degree. The undergraduate degrees in Computer Information Systems and Security (CISS) at OLLU are certified by the National Security Agency (NSA). In addition, NSA and the Department of Homeland Security have recognized the University as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education. The programs prepare graduates for the wide ranging field of information technology through hands-on experience with emerging technologies in the areas of: Computer and Network Security Foundations; Database Management; Information Assurance and Security; Network Administration; Operating Systems; Programming; Systems Analysis and Design. TSTC at Harlingen signed an articulation agreement with OLLU in 2010. It is currently being reviewed for renewal. High School Articulation
Statewide, TSTC, which has 10 campuses across Texas, has dual enrollment partnerships with over 70 school districts. That includes dual credit pathways and career and technical education training. Typically high schoolers start participating as juniors, taking one TSTC course per semester. TSTC's Dual Enrollment crosswalks [2022-2023] are designed to align with a specific Program of Study to assist partnering ISD’s to identify high school course equivalency for each course completed in our dual enrollment pathways. The Cybersecurity Program of Study is aligned under the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Career Cluster. Successful completion of the Cybersecurity program of study will fulfill requirements of the Business and Industry or STEM endorsement if the math and science requirements are met. It is ultimately the high school’s responsibility to determine that each college course meets the high school, private, charter or home school’s TEKS/learning outcomes and to determine if any additional outcomes need to be supplemented by the school/ district. A suggested TEKS Crosswalk allow students to earn CTE Completer Status in the Cybersecurity Program of Study. Students also have the opportunity to receive an Occupational Skills Award (OSA), and/or Certificate by taking specific/additional courses. After high school, students then have the option to further their credentials through TSTC, including the option to earn an associates degree.
